Today is National Foodbank Day. A day to raise the awareness of these vital services in our communities.

Did you know Trussell Trust have 1,300 centres in their network, giving out 1.3million parcels nationally to those in need? (Apr ’23 – Mar ’24). That is an incredible 94% increase over 5 years. Of the 1.3million parcels, 1.1million of these were children. To find out more about the Trussell Trust please see here.

The Boston Foodbank has seen an increase in use over the last few months. We have helped over 2,700 people access emergency parcels in our own community. The contents of these parcels are suggested by Trussell Trust and very generously donated by our community. Sadly, the donations have not been able to keep pace with the amount being given out. As demand increases, the gap between that given out and the donations coming in has broadened considerably.

On this National Foodbank Day, can you help by donating towards giving a lifeline to those most in need in our community? Donation of food can be given via one of the many donation points in our Supermarkets or via the Food Bank (Tues & Thurs, 11.30am – 2.30pm) or via appointment (01205) 310929.
