Junior Choir
The tradition of church choirs is firmly rooted in the history of many churches and cathedrals across the country. The Parish of Boston also has a historic choral tradition which spans many centuries and which remains just as relevant and vibrant today.
As part of its mission to retain and develop its historic musical traditions, the parish maintains a Junior Choir open to children from across Boston and the surrounding area from year three upwards. Members have the opportunity to sing at church services, concerts as well as town-wide festivals and events. They will also receive expert musical tuition in a fun, friendly and safe environment. We also pay our choristers a small amount when they sing for services!
Singing in a choir has many benefits behind the obvious musical ones, including improving reading skills, collaborative learning, self-discipline and confidence and responsibility. Many choristers develop these essential life skills whilst they are with us and go on to be successful adults.
We encourage children interested in joining aged 6 and above to come along to the rehearsals on Tuesday evenings between 4.30pm – 5.30pm, followed by Choir Club from 6pm. New members are always welcome.
We are recruiting NOW for new choristers.
We have 16 junior choristers in choir currently, with spaces for more. Could your child benefit from joining our choir and the musical training we offer? Why not bring them to our next rehearsal (Tuesdays in Term Time 4.30-5.30pm)
For more information about how your child could become a member of our Parish Choir, please contact the Director of Music, John Lyon at music@parishofboston.co.uk
