The traditions of church choristers are firmly rooted in the history of many churches and cathedrals across the country. Many cathedrals have choir schools where the young singers live and learn whilst singing the daily services. St Botolph’s Church (Boston Stump) has a strong choral tradition and once boasted a fine choir full of young voices singing the weekly services.
As part of its mission to revive this musical tradition, St Botolph’s is launching a new Children’s Choir. Children will have the opportunity to sing at church services, concerts and at town-wide festivals and events. They will also receive expert musical tuition in a fun, friendly and safe environment.
Singing in a choir has been shown to benefit a child’s school work, helping them to learn and develop self-confidence and maturity.
The Stump invites children aged 6 – 11 to come along to the first rehearsal on Monday 24th April from 4 – 5pm. No audition is required. Just will willingness to get involved and have fun!
