The Parish of Boston is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Organist to join our talented and dedicated music team.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an accomplished organist, accompanist and musician to play an important role in the rich musical life of our historic parish, supporting worship and helping to develop our musical provision for the future.

A varied and rewarding role

The Assistant Organist will work principally at St Thomas’ Church, with services also taking place at St Botolph’s Church (Boston Stump).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Play, direct and support choral music in worship, festivals and special services
  • Support and develop our choristers, scholars and choir, including tuition where appropriate
  • Manage and perform in our recital series
  • Help grow and develop musical provision across the parish
  • Work alongside our existing music team in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment

We are passionate about maintaining and developing the rich musical tradition of our churches while providing opportunities for musicians of all ages and abilities to flourish.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent organist, accompanist and musician
  • Has experience of choral conducting and rehearsals with both adults and children
  • Has strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Shares our commitment to the Anglican Choral Tradition, inclusivity and excellence in worship
  • Is enthusiastic about contributing to the wider musical and community life of the Parish of Boston

The role

Position: Assistant Organist
Hours: Part-time, with flexible hours to meet the needs of the role
Salary: Up to £8,024 per annum, dependent on skills and experience
Start date: From 1 September 2026, or as mutually convenient
